The Forrest E Powell foundation is pleased to announce that we are embarking on another aspect of Hecky Powell’s dream.

The goal of this project is to create a series of videos around the theme of “Anyone Can Change”. The videos will, through interviews, tell the story of men and women from various walks of life that have, at one time or another, “fallen through the cracks”.

Our subjects freely admit that their own misguided decisions often landed them in trouble with the law or worse. These stories don’t end there, because each interviewee has reached out to a trusted source, often that source lay within them, to get help and turn their lives around.

The unique part of our project is that we are using students (high school in the main) to conduct the interviews and do the majority of the technical work on set. We have seasoned professionals on hand to guide only. This gives the students a chance to have hands on experience in all aspects of the documentary process, at the same time as learning that despite ones misdeeds it is possible to turn your life around and become a productive member of the greater society.

The underlying message in these films is, if these people, once considered nothing more than a drain on society, can make a success of their lives, then what is stopping any of us from doing the same.
